G20 Ministers of Labour and Employment meet in Ankara

G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting
“G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting” will be held in Ankara (JW Marriott Hotel Ankara) on 3-4 September 2015 under the G20 Turkish Presidency.
G20 Labour and Employment Ministers came together for the first time in 2010 in Washington and convened in France in 2011, Mexico in 2012, Russia in 2013 and recently in Australia in 2014.
The G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting will be start on 3 September 2015, Thursday at 09:00.
The opening remarks will be delivered by H.E. Mr. Ahmet ERDEM, Minister of Labour and Social Security representing the Turkish G20 Presidency, Mr. Luke HARTSUYKER, the Deputy Minister of Employment of Australia and Mr. Kong CHANGSHENG, the Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China on behalf of G20 troika (former and following Presidencies).
15 Ministers from G20 members and invited countries, 4 Deputy Ministers, the principals of international organizations (ILO, OECD, World Bank and IMF) as well as the representatives of social partners (B20 and L20)1 and the G20 outreach groups (C20, T20, W20 and Y20)2 will participate in the Meeting.
The following crucial issues will be addressed at the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting regarding the world of work and labour markets in compliance with the priorities which are defined by Turkish G20 Presidency for 2015 as Inclusiveness, Investment and Implementation, formulated as three “I”s,
- Strengthening the link between employment and growth
- Increasing labour income share and reducing inequalities
- Fair and effective management of labour mobility
- Improving skills and strengthening the link between education and employment
- Promoting youth employment
- Improving employment services
- Silver economy and active ageing
- Monitoring of past G20 commitments and improving implementation
A Ministerial Declaration covering above-mentioned issues is expected to be adopted by the Ministers at the end of G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting which is considered to have important reflections at the G20 Leaders Summit to be held in Antalya on 15-16 November 2015.
Furthermore, following this Meeting, G20 Labour and Employment Ministers will have a joint meeting with the G20 Finance Ministers with an agenda of the link between growth and employment and inequalities.
