G20 Labour and Employment Ministers Meeting held in Ankara

G20 Labour and Employment Ministers met in Ankara for the sixth time on 3-4 September 2015. The meeting was chaired by the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Ahmet Erdem. Ministers from G20 members and guest countries as well as principals of international organizations attended the meeting. In a special session, Ministers met with the representatives of social partners and G20 outreach groups representing business, labour, civil society, think-tanks, women and youth to get their insights on the agenda items of the meeting. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to discuss recent trends in the global labour market, key challenges the world has been facing and possible policy options to address these challenges. Third G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting Under Turkish Presidency Will Be Held in Ankara on 4-5 September 2015

G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors will convene for the third time under the Turkish Presidency in Ankara on 4-5 September 2015. The upcoming meeting will be attended by the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors of the G20 members, invited countries, and the heads and senior representatives of the relevant international organizations. This meeting will provide an important and timely opportunity to make a comprehensive evaluation of the progress on the agenda and Finance Track deliverables to be submitted to G20 Leaders at the Antalya Summit, and discuss actions required to achieve G20’s ambitions for this year. Third Meeting of the G20 Investment and Infrastructure Working Group held in Berlin

The third meeting of Investment and Infrastructure Working Group (IIWG) under the Turkish G20 Presidency was held in Berlin on August 20-21, 2015. The central focus of the final IIWG Meeting of 2015 was to conclude the deliverables which target to improve the investment climate and unlock the private sector investment in line with the priorities of G20 Turkish Presidency. To this end, member countries and international organizations agreed that the updated country specific investment strategies supported with further development will be presented to G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors for further contribution towards the Antalya Summit. These strategies have the objective of boosting investment in G20 countries through policies to i)  improve the investment ecosystem; ii) foster efficient infrastructure investment; iii) and support sound long-term financing opportunities for business, including SMEs. Youth-20 Summit Communique calls on G20 Leaders to set  a concrete target to reduce youth unemployment Istanbul, 19 August 2015. Youth-20 (Y20) Summit has called on the G20 Leaders to set a “concrete, quantifiable and collective target on reducing youth unemployment” in its Final Communique released today. Y20 Summit was opened by Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan, G20 Sherpa Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu, Y20 Turkey Chair Dr. Emre Cenker and Prof. Dr. Gülay Barbarosoğlu, the Rector of the Boğaziçi University, which hosted the Summit between 16 to 19 August. Dr. Temel Kotil, CEO of Turkish Airlines and Dr. Serdar Çam, President of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) also addressed 94 delegates representing 24 countries. Third Meeting of the G20 Employment Working Group held in Cappadocia

The G20 Employment Working Group (EWG) came together for its third meeting under Turkish Presidency on 23-24 July 2015 in Cappadocia, Turkey. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the EWG members, international organizations and invited countries. Representatives of social partners namely B20, L20 as well as C20, T20 and Y20 in their capacity as outreach groups also attended to relevant sessions to reflect their views on the agenda items of the meeting. The meeting comprised discussions on a number of topics including the contribution of labour mobility to growth, outcomes of the workshop on “Silver Economy and Active Ageing” and the second meeting of the “EWG Sub-group on Labour Income Share and Inequalities”, finalization of the template on self-reporting of Employment Plans and discussions on a possible collective action against youth unemployment. G20 Presidency Side Event organized during the Financing for Development Conference in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 13 July 2015 – On the margins of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, G20 Turkish Presidency held a side event titled “Priorities of the Turkish G20 Presidency with Particular Focus on Development” together with Civil-20, Think-20 and Network of Southern Think-Tanks (NeST). Turkey’s G20 Sherpa Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu delivered the opening remarks. After the opening remarks, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Ali Babacan, touched upon the importance of G20 in international economic cooperation and shared Turkey’s Presidency priorities with a particular focus on development in his keynote address.
