First G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group held in Antalya

The first meeting of the G20 Energy Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) under the Turkish Presidency was held on 24-25 February 2015 in Antalya. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the G20 members, invited countries and the senior representatives of the relevant international organizations. Turkey’s G20 Sherpa, Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu, attended the opening of the ESWG meeting and presented the Turkish Presidency priorities. This meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss and make progress on G20’s 2015 energy agenda. The discussions took place under five agenda items, namely: access to energy for all, energy efficiency, market transparency, renewable energy, inefficient fossil fuel subsidies. During the meeting, members also exchanged views on the way forward for G20 Principles on Energy Collaboration and the first G20 Energy Ministers Meeting to be held in October in Istanbul. Ladies and Gentlemen, Distinguished Members of Press, good evening and welcome. We have just completed the very first Ministers and Governors Meeting of G20 under the Turkish Presidency. We actually completed our meeting about one hour before the scheduled time mostly because our Deputies have done an excellent job of making the good work ahead of time and leave for us, for the Ministers and Governors not really a big debate at the end of the day. Turkey’s G20 Sherpa Ambassador Sinirlioğlu Spoke at the OECD Council

Turkey’s G20 Sherpa Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu attended the special session of the OECD Council and explained priorities of the Turkish G20 Presidency to the OECD Permanent Representatives and other delegates on 13 February 2015 in Paris. At the outset of the meeting, OECD Secretary General HE Mr. Guria introduced Ambassador Sinirlioğlu to the Council members and briefly explained the cooperation between Turkey and OECD on 2015 Turkish G20 Presidency. Turkey’s G20 Sherpa Ambassador Sinirlioğlu made a presentation about the priorities of Turkish G20 Presidency, workplan of the G20 in 2015 and outreach activities planned to be organized. First G20 Development Working Group Meeting held in Istanbul

The first meeting of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) under Turkey’s G20 Presidency was held in Istanbul on 2-3 February 2015. Representatives of G20 members, invited countries and international organizations attended the meeting. 2015 offers an important opportunity to take forward the global development agenda. Therefore, Turkey has placed development at the center of its G20 agenda. Turkey’s G20 Sherpa Ambassador Ayşe Sinirlioğlu attended the opening of the DWG meeting and presented Turkish Presidency priorities to the members. In the first DWG meeting, G20 members extended their broad support to Turkey’s G20 development agenda priorities. G20 IIWG Meeting Held in Ankara

G20 Investment and Infrastructure Working Group Meeting 29 -30 January 2015, Ankara On January 29-30, 2015, representatives of G20 Finance Ministries and Central Banks as well as experts from international organizations attended the first Investment and Infrastructure Working Group (IIWG) meeting under the Turkish G20 Presidency in Ankara, Turkey. G20 introduced a new narrative that addresses the investment strategies by building on the existing works of the IIWG and utilizing capabilities of international organizations, multinational development banks, and the Global Infrastructure Hub (GIH). This narrative compliments reaching the 2% growth goal through concrete and ambitious country specific investment strategies in line with the Brisbane Action Plan.
