The third meeting of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) under Turkey’s G20 Presidency was held in Izmir on 4-5 June 2015.
The principal objective of the third DWG Meeting in Izmir was to register further progress on the outcomes that the DWG will deliver this year, and in particular to discuss how the ongoing work would translate into concrete results that would be submitted for the consideration of G20 Leaders at the Antalya Summit in November.
In this regard, DWG members had productive discussions on the priority work areas, namely Domestic Resource Mobilisation, Financial Inclusion and Remittances, Food Security and Nutrition, Human Resource Development and Infrastructure.
DWG members engaged constructively in the discussions on the expected deliverables in each work area.
There was broad agreement that good progress is being made with regard to the implementation of the ongoing G20 development commitments.
There was also broad recognition of the importance of taking forward new work on inclusive business that the Turkish Presidency has introduced this year.
Another important agenda item of the DWG Izmir meeting was enhancing policy coherence and coordination between the DWG and other G20 work streams on matters related to development. Delegates welcomed the concrete steps being taken by the Turkish Presidency towards strengthening policy coherence on development across G20 work streams.
